What a shame.  It is such a good place to find and exchange information that it must be worth really putting in a big push to get the site moving.
It is symptomatic of most things to do with Ireland and fishing in particular over there.  I just love the place to bits and have been coming to Ireland since 1963, every year and sometimes three or four times.  I have seen the fishing scene disintergrate over the years to where it is hardly eveen worth going these days. There are so few anglers about to share the craic with.  The various fisheries boards are a joke and do nothing - and I mean NOTHING to develop or encourage angling anywhere.  All over the place are lakes with fishing stands falling apart, and unsafe, rivers and lakes devoid of fish.  Foreign nationals helping themselves to the few fish there are and causing no end of bother to the law abiding anglers and local people.  The fisheries officers seem to think that they can sit in their nice warm offices and someone else will take care of the waters.  I can assure you they won't.  I will be there again in Leitrim in May 2009 but I honestly think it will be my last visit.  Ireland just isn't the place it used to be for anglers.  France is a much better bet and the weather is certainly a lot better.  What a shame for such a beautiful place to allow such a precious resource to decline to the level it has is nothing short of a local and national disgrace.  The cost of ferries over is beyond belief with £420 quoted for a trip at the end of October!! Cottage hire or accomodation is through the roof!! Eating out is exhorbitant!! And the cartel operated by the Victuallers association by fixing the price of drinks is totally contrary to all the EU and National competition laws and yet no one ever gets brought to task by the powers that be.  Any way enough of the rant.  I will be back to soak up the overpriced Guinness, I will travel on and overpriced ferry, I will bring wood and nails with me and repair the stands where I will fish, I will chase any FnN's I meet, and I will stay in the best place in the world.  Sure Ill have my moan but there is just something in my blood that keeps bringing me home.

That is a shame...Just signed up - moved to Dublin about a year ago from the States and thought it was high time I get some fishing in.

It seems as though the fishing scene here is in quite a disarray.  But that goes in line with everything else nowadays

It has been very difficult to find information on good fishing spots, clubs, anything really.

Best of luck getting the site back on its feet.
