This post is similiar to a post recently added but i want to understand more than was talked about in that post

Im living in cork and i am takin fishin back up after a few years break,Can you fish any river with proper salmon permit or whatever you need thats compulsory by the state,or can old cranky farmers hunt you out of rivers.Do clubs subsidise land owners to stop people entering their land so only club members get enjoyment out of fishing good rivers or do these people legally have the right to stop you fishing the river take your rod of you and tell you to F off.Is it the land or the river they have control over.If this is the case couldnt you just wade up the river and fish without entering the landowners and clubs territory

Most people the balliffs confiscate rods from dont really stand a chance of cleaning out a whole river full of salmon,if they were that good and interested they would be a dedicated member of a club. Most people just go for a day out or for a laugh and then the men in black turn up actin like glorified Gardai waving ID

for fishing for salmon, you will need a salmon and seatrout liceance. which at the moment is a joke, only letting you kill 10 a year, and 1 a day before 12th of may.

not to sure about the rights on the river as such, but surely if its club water, they would do a cheap day ticket for the visitors?as far as im aware the landowners rent out the land to the clubs. have you been having problems with bailiffs?

Not personally since i havent been out on the rivers that often but my friends did have a problem and have been hunted away from bandon in county cork plenty of times You can fish along the public walkway but when you cross a little wire fence they dont want them in there.in other words we can have the crowded walkways but the quite little fields are for the "Real" fishermen.Do they legally have a right to stop you fishing a river if you have a permit or is the land thing what were being pulled on.I always thought they owed the right to the river which to me sound competely stupid

if you have a permit, you should be ok to fish there, you paid your money. altho, some permits may only cover one side of the river.
