Been driving up to stoneyford the last few evenings but yet to see a fish taken out of it, unsure where to really start at it. anyoen fish it and what methids do you use?
Hi sean, i worm fished stoneyford, about a month ago, with no luck, although i seen a bloke carrying a fish of about 2lb heading to his car. Dodgy place to leave your car unattended apparently [take the wifes]. White lough is worth a try. I went on the saturday of the mayday weekend and the fish were rising all over the place, and i hadnt the fly gear with me, but i caught one on the float. There was a rainbow of about 2 1/2lb kept crusing off and on below my jetty, and if i was an unsporting chap, i could have netted it. I returned on monday and very few rising, because i had the fly rod with me.

heads i remmeber fishing white lough a few years ago, and also bantry. havent had fish of both, but nice wee spots. do you fish white lough often? and how often is it stocked
Ive only fished white lough twice, over the mayday weekend. I may give it a go this weekend, i'll bring the fly rod and bait rod and see what works best. I dont know how well its stocked, supposed to be a thousand fish put in at the start of the season and then topped up at times. I find it hard to believe the decal stocking reports. Hillsborough supposed to be well stocked, and ive fished it twice with no luck, and not even seeing a fish, and i havent heard of anyone catching this year. Its my first time back to fishing decal waters in 25 yrs. I might have a look at the river blackwater on my way home from white lough, as the decal permit covers it too. Im a river flyfisherman at heart, and im useless at flyfishing lakes, dont know which fly to use or what retrieve speed etc.

Lo folks
bin fishing stonyford for the last 20 years best time is from now untill august the buzzers should be starting to hatch about now try a dark olive green buzzer in size 10 or 12, a hares ear or pheaseant tail nymph also work well at styfrd.
Styfrd fishes best in a westerly wind ie blowing along thw wall from the village try to fish as late as u can i`ve found from 9 to well after dark is best
smal black and peacock spiders claret or black hoppers fished about 15 yards off the wall should get u a fish or two
