Hi all, excuse the newbie. Anyone have any suggestions for flies and locations for fly fishing for pike, in the Lienster area preferably. I am new to fly fishing after many years of deadbaiting for pike.

Duzzie.

Dont have info on areas in Leinster sorry. But any place that guys catch pike spinning and deadbait they will take the fly to. The course fish are spawing now so hit the bays they are in, i start my pike fly fishing in May and fish the early mornings and evennings, using floating line

Flies : red and white cant go wrong, 4 in is a good size, the tail should be 2in long past the hook, and made from marabou and buck skin, a bit of mylar helps. Neutral in weight so it can be fished with floating/sinking lines and polyleaders. i would bring some poppers, but color is not important just the silhouette and the action

rod: 9ft 9/10#

Flyline: 9/10#, weight forward floater and sinker. Shooting heads in 10# are also handy

Leader: tapered 15lb if you have it or flourcarbon 15lb, about 4 feet

Trace: the less weight the better, i use kevlar steel and found nothing better, super light and knots like mono, comes in 18lb and 22lb i think

Thats a good starter and u can add more to it over time
