18 pound pike Oaks trout fishery Derry North of Ireland

this is my mate. he only started fishing for pike in septmeber. he has had one 20lb this one at 18 two at fifteen a number of doubles and several smaller pike. taken on varous methods. there is a pike in this fishery that weighed over the irish record but the scales were not officially zeroed so it was invalid as arecord claim. she was returned however and swam off strongly. great wee fishery. £15 for a day at the pike fishing. boats are free at the moment. usual cost £10 for the day.

knocavoeboy

i wasnt even cold and that was just netting it. if i get on the road driving ill take you down there and meet up with my mate it is a good spot. bought a new rod from village tackle fox 12ft 2 3/4lb test curve. and some braided line spider wire. system is working well. never used braid before gret stuff may conver tot salmon fishing with braid aswell. just need to connect with the pike.
Sean

the braid is very good when using the prawn and shrimp, easy to apply grease to it, so lien stays on surface.
knocavoeboy

shrimp illegal on the foyle system just so you know.
Sean

they were thinking about making it illegal all over this season. but i dunno if it is. ive never and will never be a poacher, but i will still be using the prawn nomatter what lol, prawns illegal on the clady, but if i used worms id just slaughter every parr in the river, without even a bite from a salmon lol
